Background

Union County is located in west central Ohio and its name is a result of the manner in which the county was created by joining or a union of parts of its neighboring counties. The county was formed in 1820 with territory taken from Delaware, Franklin, Logan, and Madison counties.

In 2000, the population of Union County was 47,234. The seat of county government is located in Marysville.
